`Week Two- Strategies for dealing with conflict
This week we brainstormed some effective strategies to deal with conflict. The decisions we make to handle a situation can either make the problem better or it could make everything much worse. Some useful strategies to try are:
1. Ignore the behaviour (If it’s a little problem sometimes ignoring the person will make them stop)
2. Make a frown with your face so the person knows that you are not happy. Sometimes if we say ‘stop’ while we are laughing, the other person may continue because they think it is a joke

3. Say “Stop, I don’t like it!” in a loud, serious voice to let the person know that it is not okay to continue the behaviour.
4. Move away from the person and remove yourself from the situation.
5. Tell an adult. A teacher or parent can help you if the person is continuing the behaviour or you are not feeling safe.
It is important to tell a teacher straight away if you are being physically hurt and feel unsafe.
